hey anyone had this happen my back up sensors going nut my console (overhead)went out then on my way home from work last night my tranny gage goes for a crap and my tow haul light starts flashing any ideas??????//
Trans-temp, tow haul and reverse sensors would have me pulling the transmission harnesses and greasing the contacts, then inspecting the wiring for chafes. Console may be a coincidence.
Because it's a salt solution, I would definately pull the wiring harnesses from the sensors and coat them with white lithium or dielectric grease. These will displace water and keep it from getting back into the plug. You'd probably want to prep the plugs with a contact cleaner before the grease to clean them up.
Put the truck up on hoist today all connections are perfect checked under the dash for windsheild leaks none now the truck doesnt want to go into overdrive the backup alarms are driving me nuts and the tran guage is at the bottom and check gage light is on and tow haul light is flashing constantly i am going to lose it!!!!
Before pulling your hair out, hook it up to a scan tool (not a code reader). See if the PCM is communicating with everything. If it checks out good, the 05+ has a CAN network tool and the 99-04 communicate through the cluster. High end shops and Dealers can check for specific module comm.
i am going to a dealer on monday there telling me that a scan is not guaranteed and they will "take a look at it"has this not happened to anyone else but me?
I had a VSM die after an oil change. The VSM took out my power door locks and dome lights. I replaced the VSM, I gave my contact my vin number and installed it. It fixed my door locks, but the dome lights didn't work afterward. I replaced the instrument cluster and still didn't fix it, so I had ford program it. Still doesn't work, but I've learned they only programmed the HEC module and not the VSM like I asked and that will most likely cure my problems. It took three years of research to come to this conclusion, so your not alone in headaches.
