well lately i have been driving my SD and noticing a tapping noise.... i figured it is an exhaust leak because i hear it more when i am driving as well as idleing, and even more along a highway divider or fence on pass side. i have gotten on the creeper and rolled along the whole system and cant notice an obvious spot leaking(black carbon buildup). are theyre any places that these trucks are notorious for an exhaust leak or maybe valve tappage...... it kind of seems intermittant.....i replaced my idler pully bc it looked to be tearing up my belt. i thought maybe the bearing was burned up and making the noise but no such luck
well the more i think about it...... the noise is the worst driving under load......like passing on the highway......if i let off the gass it about stops...... just some more info

Either an exhaust leak or a loose plug would the first things to look at.
They are known to spit plugs if the plugs are not maintained a lot more than Ford says they should be.
You should find out RIGHT NOW where that ticking is coming from. Use a piece of hose, one end to your ear, and hunt around with the other end. Report back.
well i just bought new plugs because i havent ever changed em and i doubt the guy before me did either ..... must the fuel lines be removed to take off the coil pack?
well i have all new plugs in and tight.....
havent taken out driving to see if i fixed the problem..... but it def was a pita....i did take off the feul rails.... id never gotten the back ones off without doin it.....
i also bought a can of seafoam to put in when i fill up next time
