Hey everyone,
I recently took my Transmission down in order to change the rear main seal. After reinstalling it back, I changed the fluid(fluid in the torque converter also),the filter, and the gasket.
After taking it for a test drive my gears switch to quickly all the way into overdrive making my truck bog down.
Any ideas what could be causing this?
Is there something I was suppose to have adjusted first after putting the tranny back up or is there something to adjust now?
The tranny was switching fine before I brought it down.
If it shifted OK before and you did nothing with anything else, sounds like the TV adjustment is out.
There are a few articles on the web that tells how to adjust it.
basically the looser the adjustment the sooner it shifts.
Check it right away, it is very critical to have enough pressure or it will ruin the tranny.
TV stands for Throttle Valve, and ususally its a cable from the side of the trans to the throttlebody on EFI trucks. if its a carbed model it will be a rod with a trunion block attached to the side of the trans. it is adjustable externally...although personally i'm not very good at it (blew up 2 aod's already because of this)
