after a 100 mile highway trip, didn't feel truck (1998 f150 4x4 xlt) gear down. The button on my shifter wouldn't turn off the overdrive...(no light) and was towing a small trialer....maybe 1500 lbs. high acceleration got me from the toll to the gas station across the street. after checking fluid (good) found had reverse but barly any drive. flatbedded home....backed up nicely into my spot. in drive, wants to move a little with a rev up then stops. 219,000 miles. Read most of the posts here but nothing about the possibility of being stuck in overdrive. Overdrive turn off button was working a while back while back, Then after replacing the manifold and egr tube had a battery light and no O/D off light. weird. Battery light has since gone off after removing the ground fron the batt for a while. This is stupid. Have a feeling I need to replace tranny (4r70w) and also have electrical problems RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Is the CEL light on?
otherwise, Id be thinking a valve body/solenoid problem............or an internal problem.................Might be a good idea if you can put it on a scanner? I dont know if it has a failsafe like some other cars have............
sorry but I don't know what that CEL light. There is no light that I can see on my dash......If you mean the overdrive light on the shifter handle....no it won't light when button is depressed
