New Truck

Hey, im new to the site and im looking to buy a new truck. I currently own a 99 F-150 156k miles and still running strong let me know what you think is a good price to offer for this truck. I test drove it and it runs great after market intake and lift please post what you think is reasonable for this truck thanks!

If it's a supercab 4x4 XLT It's waaaaay over priced. Retail on those is only $17.5. They're trying to get their money back on the upgrades. I'd never pay retail, so reallistically its at $15 or $16K truck.

Which motor does it have? Ad says the 5.4...but it's the stripped XLT. Kinda rare to find a 5.4 under the hood of a stripped XLT.

The lift kit is a big negative for me. It's just one of those things I pass on. Looks really nice though don't it.

Pro:
Lift Kit
Good Tires
Body Panels look straight
Lower mileage for a 2006 model (3x,xxx miles)

Con:

$24,000 asking price for a 2006 XLT
Lifted
Inside of bed looks beat to hell
Absolutely bared boned...no options

That price is extremely high for what the truck is. You can probably knock at least $5-6,000 off immediatly and start negotiating from about the $17-18,000 point IMO
It looks like basically the Dealer is trying to capitalize on the Lift Kit/Big tires

otherwise, that truck isn't worth near what they are asking. You can buy a 6" Lift Kit new for $1,200...rims for under $1,000...and 35" tires for about $1,200

to me, they are tacking about $5,000 of pure profit onto what a decent price should be for that truck...especially as I'd bet money they raped the prior owner on the Trade-In

for Reference, I have a 2006 SuperCrew, fully optioned with everything but the Power Rear Sliding window and backup assist. just went over 26,000 miles, under the Bumper to Bumper Warranty still and have 2yrs left of the Powertrain Warranty

My KBB is about $22,000 Retail...and that is before you even factor in the Supercharger and other stuff that a Dealership would try to capitalize off of.

just looked at the bed picture again. I'd avoid that puppy. the tailgate is bent, and the bed has seen some pretty good abuse

I think you can find a better truck for alot cheaper elsewhere...or even buy a brand new one for that kind of money...the 2009 rebates are pretty wicked right now

I did pop the hood and it is a 5.4L they told me they bought it at a ford auction and it was a lease that was repoed could be a positve or a negative. The tail gate does look dented in the photo but when i saw it it didnt look bad just some scrapes and scratches wich is what you get for not having a bed liner. I was thinking at started at 17K so im glad to hear what you guys had to say if theres anything else you see please do reply. The 5.4 does have K&N Intake and aftermarket muffler but no cat back exhaust. It does have all power windows including the extended cab windows and a 6 disc changer what options is it lacking that it could have?

the 5.4 motor, Tow package, and the 6-disc are the only options it has

XLT means power windows/locks...and usually Cruise Control

sorry, I've gotten spoiled by my FX4 with Luxury Package. I forget people don't need/want all the other goodies that are available

If you can grab it for $16-17,000...probably a good deal. Any more and I suggest you walk. F-150's are a dime a dozen. The only outstanding part of that truck is the Lift Kit...and you can lift any F-150 to match that for under $2,500 (lift+tires).

On the other hand, that lift kit just gives me the jitters. You never know how the prior owner babied...or more likely abused the hell out of it.

I'm with Tylus... I use my truck for work hauling materials and such... I have done some stupid crap but never dented the tailgate to that extent... that looks like they had a pallet of concrete in the back and let it slide in to the gate by driving too hard with out a bedliner.... that tranny is probably not in the best of shape.

There is working a truck....and then there abusing a truck

The bed of that thing is beat to hell...IMO that a indicative of a truck that has abused. Little things that show how much (or little) they cared for the truck
