I have a 2005 F-250 and would like to know if anyone knows how
to remove the overhead console. The console has a small knook to keep
your wallet or cell phone and a swing down door that hold your sunglassess.
I broke off the plastic clip that has the spring tension to keep the door shut.
I need to remove the whole console to remove the door to either glue the clip
back together or to order another one.
It should just pull down. It has spring clips holding it in place, and they are tight, but they do pull out with some elbow grease. Just to be safe, feel around the whole enclosure to make sure there are no screws. There should not be, but just to be safe take a look. Then just pull it straight down.
I have a retro-fit out of an F150 and it has one screw in the front end. That's the only reason I mention the screw.
Careful. Even though everyone says to just "pull down, it will feel like it is going to break but it won't" the tabs that hold the cover in place still break off very easily. I broke mine and all 4 tabs are stuck in their clips, and it's about $150 for just a new cover.
mine broke like a son-of-a-gun. had to use lots of superglue. 3 working now (i think, maybe only two) but had to superglue black mount to grey mount. good luck! try to use screwdrivers to help if you know where tabs are. i still apreciate the help about how to fix and solder!
