seriously though, the truck is set up to be running around either pulling something or carrying something all the time. f450s are made to be working all the time, they are much more heavy duty than an f350. f450s cruise nice on the highway with a few tons on the back or pulling a heavy trailer. your taking away alot of the capability of your truck by going to a higher ratio IMO. if you go to haul 5 or 6 tons on the back or pull a 10 ton trailer or do both at the same time you'll be wishin you had them 4.88s or even lower because the truck is fully capable of moving that weight. the truck might be overkill for what you need it for. but you know your situation alot better than i do so do what will benefit you the most. just something to think about :-)
Looks like a candidate for the overdrive version of US Gear's dual range auxiliary transmission. Probably better and cheaper in the long run than a final drive change.

I don't think you can go any faster than 4.56 in the Dana 80. Mainly because the ABS tone ring on the carrier would be too far away from the sensor(which is externally on the diff. housing) to pick-up a signal to speedo & ABS system.
I have been this route before. If you can't believe this, get the B/M # off of you diff tag (should be something like 605249-3) and call Dana Technical in Toledo, OH. Phone# 419-866-3960. They will be able to tell you what You can convert to. I think you're stuck with 4.56. Gearman
You can go all the way down to 4.10's on the rear carrier, no trouble with the tone ring location, you will need to change the front carrier, it's break is 4.56 up, 4.10 and down. Other choices for rear gears are 4.30, 4.63, 4.88, 5.13, 5.38. But since you have a 4wd 4.10 is your only other choice, the odd ratio's are used in the 2wd F-450's.
