Well, originally I was just going to ask for darkside rear glass ideas, but I figure why not start a whole thread on darkside modifications? I could use a good brainstorm.
From subtle to loud, anything you think would look good on a effie (even if it's on something else), doesn't have to be something you want to do, just ideas.
Be sure to post pictures!
I've been toying with the idea of a gloss black grille, might look really good on a red truck:
(quick photoshop)
The truck where I first saw the idea, I like the red in the grille.
I also like the Advance Design Chevy vertical bumper guards, something like this would be fun on an effie:
Obviously this topic could easily be derailed into other trucks and cars, but my goal with it is to have ideas, regardless of what they're on, that would be nice on a F series.
Well a couple of my favorites are sun visors and modified grilles. I also like full front tilts.
Also I like little bling bling stuff like spot lights, interior tailgate locks, vent shades, breezies, triple US flag license plate toppers, fog lights, bumper pole lights, etc.
9" rear, disc brakes, aftermarket springs, dual M.C., 12volt, wood bed floor, rear gas tank, Toyota power steering. That's as far as mine is going.
For a street rod truck, My first "fix" would be weld up all the seams in the front fenders, rear of cab, etc... Then from there, it's a matter of taste.

Hi Stephen,
I had thought about just saying three raccoon tails on the antenna, but I decided against it.
I assume you are talking about your big old F-600 flat bed. I would recommend a tinted back slider window. They make them for the old Ford trucks and they are easy to install. As for the grille, it's a matter of personal choice. I really like chrome but there is no way I'm paying that kind of money. If you are into the Darkside, help is on the way. www.DarksidersRealm.com is coming soon to a computer near you.
When are you going to get that beast home??? Are you still planning on moving?
I have toyed with the idea of a rear glass that goes up and down like in the sport trac. I assumed it has been done before in a effie, but would be cool.

I had the same idea... then I remembered how much I wouldn't use it, ha. I had a sliding glass window in my last truck, and air flowed better without it ironically.

The kind where your at a gas station and a 20 year old kid in his little import
asks what kind of truck is that?
you say it's a stock 1956 ford..... and he dosent know the differance
hows these , it's things i have been pondering as if i can get to ohio i will have an extra frame to play with : 1. i was gonna make the front frame horns over to look like a 32 's and run a spreader bar between them ala deuce rod . 2. thinking of putting a " recess " in the gravel pan and putting a moon tank in it { over flow for the radiator most likely } . 3. nerf bars instead of bumpers has crossed my mind . 4. coil springs and split wishbones { radius arms } ala ed " big daddy " roth aka rat fink ,on the front straight axle and the complete rear coil suspension outta the vic im parting , 5. using the vic or whatever you have , trunk lid with the liscence plat mount in it's center from the factory , to make a homemade roll pan for the rear . 6. extending the running boards the 3/4 inch they fall short to be flush with the front fenders . 7. my running boards are toast in the center so i was gonna make some new supports from square stock , then find a couple of matching ford tailgates and cut the ford panels out and weld them and other filler into the center for something a little diff . 8. thinking of using the roof , trunk hinges and some other things from the vic to make a homemade metal tonneau cover with hinges ....... i'll think of more i got lots of time in the seat of the ih wandering and thinking of things to get me in trouble !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Keith,
Your truck is about as subtle as a nuclear powered sledge hammer...
If you can find a kid who even asks anything about your truck there still is a glimmer of hope in the world. 99% of the ones I encounter are too brain dead to care.
However, if you do find that one kid who asks, make every effort to bring him over to the Darkside.
