I always go to a parts house and buy Trannsmission cooler line, it is rated for around 200 psi, it looks the same as rubber fuel line but it is a lot tougher.
Same here, diesel is much closer to ATF than it is to gasoline, especially considering all the stuff other than clean diesel that goes in my tanks Joe, no dangers of a fireball, my buddy's truck has been like that since he got it - as long as you still got the bottom piece of the steel line attached to IP cause that's where all the heat is, not up by the filter head.
joe you would have to worry about the fuel hurting the line before the heat it will work just fine just have to change it out more often than metal and does not look as good as metal
I would worry more about just clamping the rubber over the cut off steel line more than anything else. That's a sloppy way to make a connection and a good place for a leak. Works for a temporary fix but not good for a permanant fix.
For clamping the hose on the line you use fuel-injection clamps (and not worm-drives) and double them up on the side of the steel line. You can also put a small flare on the steel line's end.
lol, have you ever heard of a GM vehicle with an XLT Lariat trim? And yes, I did drive a Chev, a '79 c10 stepside with a 350 in it, fun little truck - could burn the tires all the way to 3rd gear, and still got 20mpg on the freeway.
