long shot question here
One of my friends has a 1987 1 ton chevy with dana 60s, this things rotted completely so Its going to the scrap heap. Im building A 1980 f-250 4x4, Im trying to source a dana 60 to replace the 44. 3 months of searching now around home and I cant find one for under $900, I havent looked Into ebay yet. How hard would It be, or more like would It be worth the time screwing around to take the 60 out of the chevy, drill the welds out of the housing and swap the tubes side to side? Granted I know drilling out welds would suck for sure, and Id have to switch the caliper brackets side to side and used gm calipers of course. I guess when I picture It In my mind It seems "easy" but "easy" Is never really "easy". Or could A person Install a reverse gear set and just flip the axle over......Theres more to It than that but could something like that be done?

Easiest thing would be to go ahead and get the chevy axle and use it to swap for the right one. It surely has to worth something. Maybe the complete axle and a couple hundred to a wrecking yard? Anything else on the chev you could pull and use to swap along with the axle?
