Darn ABS light
help i have a tempermental ABS light that comes on when i put the vehicle in gear.. once in a while i get lucky it stays off then the anti lock kicks in on dry pavement then the ABS lights up. Any opinions greatly appreciated. Could It be a rear sensor?? befor I go to the shop!!!!

Try the cheap repair first
Had a similar issue. Eventually I also got a check engine light and the O/D light on the column shift handle would blink. Went to Ford and they tried to jack me for 3 diagnostics charges because they said I had 3 issues (lights) on. Once they realized I wouldn't play, they did the diagnostics and said the ABS module was fried, quoted over $1K to fix. Bull....
Long story shot, thanks to this forum, I bought a speed sensor, unplugged the battery, installed the sensor (took maybe 5 minutes) and my Ex has been runnin strong ever since.
p.s. I tested the ABS on the first snow and it works perfect. I posted the diagnostic codes the dealer gave me in an earlier post...

Bluewater i have a similar issue my abs light is on and my speedo does not work bounces once in a while is that the same speed sensor thats located on the rear diff on top i think its called a VSS not sure was planning on changing it.

Well I replaced the sensor and still have the ABS light on. I guess i will take it in. We have a shop in the area that has all the computers without the big dealers price. In fact the big dealers send cars to this shop when they can not figure the problem out. Thanks for the help

I went to auto zone No code found. The scanner they were using must not had the ABS software version. I have good hydralic brakes and been to the brake shop and the rotors and pads are good. Pads front and back 85% and the rotors were within spec, nbot warped.
