I have an 88 f150 with the 351w.
I cannot seem to find the pcv valve on this thing, Any ideas?
Also, my brother got the replacement for me and I am unsure if it is the right part. Its got two bigger barbs that hoses attach to on one end. Is that correct?
look behind the intake manifold on top of the engine, I've got a 95 f150 with a 351 and that's where i found mine, be careful taking the old one out, the stem broke on mine inside the vac line and I had to replace that too cause I couldn't get it out. Its really not in an obvious place. you should see a large vac line coming out of the intake manifold, follow that around and you should find it in line there, hope this helps
^^^^ your right... sorta. Its not actually in the valve cover on the 351, it mounts to the intake, and has a hose that goes to the valve cover. so... your looking for a hose that goes into the top rear of your pass side valve cover. It should be short, and at the other end you will find the pcv valve.
its definitely not in the valve cover... there is a hose and the valve ends up behind the intake manifold on mine... should be a stock location but its possible someone rigged it up to be back there

It sounds like he got an aftermarket PCV valve. An OEM PCV valve from the dealer would be a better part because it is designed for a specific application.
The stock setup for both motors has the PVC valve in the rear/top of the passenger valve cover and connecting to the intake manifold with a short piece of rubber tubing. It's easily accessable on the 5.0 but really hard to get at on the 5.8. The valve itself looks like this..

I can't imagine that you can't replace it w/o taking off the manifold (I've seen some questionable engineering from Ford, but nothing this ridiculous) .. it's mounted in a rubber grommet, get a hold of the f***er and pull to flex the rubber enough to give it up .. you may have to 'push hard' to get it back in too ..
It really wasn't that hard... hardest part was finding the darn thing. I broke mine trying to get it out of the hose so I had to replace the hose and the valve at that point. I've had no issue with that particular part of the truck since then but the 230xxx miles are really starting to take a toll and I may have to get rid of the big red ******* soon.
