There is a band clamp on the exhaust side of the turbo that connects it. It can be a PITA to get loose if it's been on there a while.

They hook the same but on our turbo the flang on the down pipe is 4", then goes to 3 1/2". I think I know what you are doing, looking at your pics in your profile. From what I can see, I don't know how you will get a down pipe in there. Good luck.

if you were here to see the truck you could see i have just enough room to get the thing in there, just barley and its going to be a tight squeeze, and im only going to have about 350 dollars in every thing, so if i get a piece of the down pipe off a 94-97 psd with its clamp will it work on the 99 turbo?

If the down pipe has a 4" flange to mate to the exhaust housing of the turbo and it has the right bend in it to clear the back of the engine, I guess it would work. I don't know for sure because I never looked at doing that before.

In order to know if something is wrong with the turbo, you need to a couple things to check it out. You can grab the wheel nut and try to force it up and down, side to side. A little play is ok as longe as it don't hit the housing. Then try to push the wheel in and out usinging the nut, if there is any play doing this, this is not good. The turbo is not hard to rebuild, the rebuild kit is around 100.00.

These turbos spool up good. Are you going to add the Intercooler with this upgrade?

What kind of truck did this come off? It wasn't a van?

EDIT: I just read you first post again. Are you talking about the down pipe, or the up-pipes?

down pipe

no i dont think it came off a van i think it come off a regular pickup truck, and it has less than 100,000 miles on it, i would like to put a intercooler on but right now i dont have the money for that so im going to get the turbo on and worked out and then later put an intercooler on.

And i did the things to check it out and it has virtually no shaft play at all.
