Dash Cupholder

Will a newer 02-07 cup holder fit in my 99. I thought if you got the whole thing it would exchange out but I am not sure. And if so can I exchange out the face plate with my blue one since blue dash parts are inpossible to find?

I got mine from Ed. Ford updated it and now it's like the later model cup holders.

So I will not be able to just order one off ebay? I will have to get one to fit the 99?

Ed wasn't sure if the later models would interchange. The new one from him was cheaper than the ones that I saw on ebay.

I believe I ordered a cupholder from an 2002 model year truck for my old '99.5 truck with the stupid cupthrowers. IIRC, you cannot swap the faceplates, they have plastic-looking rivets on them that can't be replaced without breaking the whole deal. You need to match the paint.

Huck,

If I am readig this right you ordered one for a 99 and got the updated version with no fitment problem, right?

Also, did you have to paint to match?

My 99.5 came with the old style cup holders. I swapped it of a truck at work that they were going to sell. I had to swap the metal frame that they slide on in the dash as well. Kinda tricky cause not much room for hands and 1/4" ratchet. My interior is grey so matched perfect.
Not sure about swapping faceplates.
How many years did they use the blue interior? We had one truck here with blue and the other 7 or so trucks they bought had grey.

Found this in an older thread - these are all the updated cupholders: (Thanks to NumberDummy)

YC3Z2513560CAB = Parchment / MSRP: $82.80 / FTEpartsguy.com price: $59.62.

YC3Z2513560CAC = Denim Blue / MSRP: $82.63 / FTEpartsguy.com price: $59.50

YC3Z2513560CAD = Graphite / MSRP: $82.55 / FTEpartsguy.com price: $59.44

You might want to call Ed to verify the prices, the thread was from July of 2008.

It's a pretty easy swap, the entire cupholder assembly - track and all - comes out and is swapped with the new one.

How are they different? Do they actually hold your drink in when you go around a corner?

The floppy ears are gone and replaced with hard plastic round holders thingies. Yes they actually work now.

Here is a write-up on changing your cup throwers to cup holders.

I ordered cup holders from Ed and they just came in today. It cost me $59.
