i am posting this question for afriend of a friend. i have not seen the truck or played with it at all. but i am trying to get my head around the problem. when the truck is cold and started it will surge, and by surge i mean rev up and down until it warms up. it does not stall out, and runs fine once it warms up. its 99 with an auto and 140k miles. i dont know if it is an early or late 99. like i said its a friend of a friend i have not seen the truck.
The romps are typically associated with below freezing weather, and caused by the cold thick oil not being able to properly fire the injectors in our HEUI system. Sticking poppets inside the injectors (most commonly caused by not paying attention to oil drain intervals) can also cause this. A sticking IPR is another possibility.
