OK! I just bought my 08 F-350 crew cab superduty 4x4 and the stock 265x70x17 just look pathetic! I'm looking to go up to the biggest tire i can on this stock truck! What i'm hung up on is this --- the stock tires which i'm sure you all know are 10 ply LE tires, do you have to stick with a LE tire? Or can you go to a LD on these trucks? I want a big aggressive tire, like a BF MT, and most of these tires i've found are not LE rated only LD!
If you are hauling 12,000 you need the load E. If you don't do much hauling you will be fine.
I have had laod D Nittos 295/75/16 on stock rims and hauled 7,000 lbs and didn't have any trouble.
I now have load D Mastercrafts 315/75/16 on 10 wide rims and I will not haul with those tires at all because they are only 50lb tires. The Nittos were 65lb tires.
I still have my original load E tires on the original Rims and use them when I pull the 20' gooseneck around.
