The CAN bus version is NOT applicable to the 2004, unless that model year had two different radio versions. I have a late 2004 that does NOT use the CAN bus for the adapter, only 2005 and beyond should use these.
There is a PIE adapter for 2004 that works great, I have it installed.

For radios with no "AUX" button, certain radios still use the PIE and the "CD" button has two modes. One is for normal CD operation and the other is for "DJ" which the head unit sees as an external CD input.
My 2003 has this option/feature and is how I listemn to my XM radio through my head unit.
