Is there any way to tell if I have a 10" or 11" clutch in my 95 F150, 4.9, 5 speed 4X4? I have to order a clutch and the dealer says I have to pull the tranny and xfer case to measure the clutch first. Thanks!
Don't know of any way to tell externally, but when I replaced mine in my 92 F-150 4.9 I traded up from the 10 to the 11. You could just order the 11" and if you've got the 10" now you'll be getting a better clutch. Both bolt patterns should be present in the flywheel. If you do have the ten you'll need to switch out the pressure plate bolts. The 10" uses 5/16-18 and the 11" uses 3/8-16. Otherwise everything else should be the same. I would reccomend that you have the flywheel turned so you've got a nice clean non-rusted surface to start with.
Thanks HD, I just talked to the parts man and he confirmed that there is only one flywheel offered for the 4.9 so I ordered the 11". I could always use another inch....
I recently put an 11" centerforce 1 clutch in my 94' F-150 4.9l. All the small blocks have the same flywheel and they are all drilled for 10" and 11" clutches. Go with 11"! Works great! Jason
