I know this may sound insulting, but check your fluid level.

Is it doing it right at or right around 45MPH when the torque converter locks? Maybe more when there's a load on it. First check to see if you have the 4R70W. Most F150s do. Over time many develop the dreaded torque converter shudder. How many miles and how often is the fluid changed?

In any case a complete drain/refill is in order with Mercon V. Often that fixes the problem.

I checked the fluid level its dead on it. The fluid smells fine. I just had a torque convertor put in 3weeks ago and a shift solenoid put in about a week and a half ago cause the torque convertor locked up. With brand new fluid and filter. Any suggestions. Its exactly when you get up to 45mph. The truck starts shaking when it does it and its when u are starting up a hill or incline when the truck starts getting a load.. Is it the torque convertor locking up again.

What I'm talking about is torque converter shudder during normal lockup. When in OD the torque converter will lock up to be like a manual transmission. I don't know what happened to it previously, but the TC locks up normally.

Is the shaking brief, like hitting a rumble strip or is it continuous?

It is like you said running across a rumble strip. It will do it untill you get back into the gas or untill it drops back down a gear. If you take it out of over drive it doesnt do it at all.

Does it do it constantly or just for a second or two then all is well?

TC shudder is just a second or two like if you just hit a rumble strip for a second. If not, you might have a miss fire like was stated. If you did just have transmission work done, I'd take it to them.

I took it back to transmission shop. They said they would let me know in the mourning. If its not that and they say everything is fine what should i look for next. I just did a tune up on the truck.

Have the codes pulled (Autozone can do it) and post them here. We'll need the actual code. What plugs did you use? Did you use dielectric grease? Did you replace any coils or boots?

The codes will be a big help. Also what year and engine.

The truck is a 2002 Ford F-150XL 4.6L triton SOHC. I put brand new Motorcraft Platinums in truck gapped at .045 thousands. i didnt put the dieelectric grease. When i get the truck back i will pull the boots off and put that on. How important is that dieelectric grease on there. How often does the boots need changed they all look good when i pulled them off. I cleaned them and everything.

Okay got it back from transmission shop. They cant get it to make it shutter. Drove home and drove fine. Took it by and got it hooked up to the computer thing. No codes. So i drove home and pulled the cops back off and made sure everything looked clean and put that dielectric grease on the Boots and WOW what a difference. The truck idled better and everything. Took it down road and no shutter or nothing at all. Could i just had a bad connection??? Anyway its doing good so far. I will know more after i drive tomorrow cause i got alot of running to do. Thanks everyone for the information so far. This site is the BEST.
