K guys,,,,need a couple opinions here. My 4r70w has a shudder when shifting from 3rd to 4th under partial throttle. Ya all think it might just be the loose valve body syndrome.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 26-Nov-02 AT 03:28 AM (EST)]My guess is converter shudder, depending on the miles on the transmission. You can't go wrong with a fluid flush, and the majority of the time this will fix the problem if it is indeed the converter. I dont know about the loose valvebody so I cant really help you there.
Good luck,
What shape is the fluid pan on the 4r70w? Im trying to figure out what tranny my 95 4x4 xlt has. I am familiar with the long skinny deep pan of the E40D. Mine is a short(front to rear) shallow pan. The sticker inside the door is missing so I dont have the transmission code. It was made at michigan truck plant.

just trust me on this, i have used the smart blend red in several vehicles with the same symptoms as yours & this additive worked every time. that companys website ( link above )tells about all about it & also where you can find distributors for it. i think its about 5 or 6$. although a fluid change probably would also fix the problem you can add this to the existing flud or in addition to a fluid change.
I've heard that can solve the problem sometimes with this transmission. Just want to make everyone aware that they should retorque the valve body bolts on any transmission when they do a filter change. My 97 5R55E bolts were all loose and these have a history of blowing out valve body gaskets. So no matter what transmission you have, check them. Not too tight though, they only torque to about 9 ft-lb which isn't much.
