CD player question

I see you can go to the next track or the previous track, but can you fast forward or fast backward?

Thank you. I need to mess with it and experiment. I've just been wading through the giant instruction manual, and I didn't see anything about it in there. By the way, which is the "next" and "last" button? (and there's a whole nuther instruction manual for "Sync"!)

its the same button you use to change tracks. just hold it instead of press it. on the radio or the steering wheel if you have those controls. and syng really isnt to complicated. but im always a certified ford tech to and have taken the class on sync.

So..... 04XLTRUNNER ......

Maybe you can solve my Sync problem.... when I page through sources using the 'Media' button on my steering wheel, the default input for Sync is Line In ... Now, I can change this through the ***** on the dash and the Sync menus, but what I really want to do is set the default for Sync to always be my USB port? When I switch the input, it only seems to stick until the next time I start up the truck - when the input defaults back to line in.....

Can I change the default for good?

Thanks,
Todd

Oh yeah - Sorry werewolf!

Same thing happens to me...listen thru USB, stop turn it off, get back in after parking it, unit is on the line in...which I was not using.

very frustrating.

well, it should stick to the usb as long as you dont change it to the line in. mine does. i can press the aux button and it automatically pulls up my ipod on the usb. or press the button and say usb. mine has never went to the line in by default. try goin to aux then press the menu button and go in there to the settings and see if it can be changed. i really havent looked into that to much cause i havent had that problem. but i will look also on my truck and see what i can figure out and get back to you

You might also check to see if there's a firmware update available from the syncmyride site. The return to LINE-IN could be a bug.

I tried the firmware update and got a "installation failed" due to either not enough memory or some other problem.

I was going to go back and hit them up at syncmyride. They have been fairly responsive with my other questions in the past. They have a online chat service.

I'm also having the same problem with SYNC defaulting back to the line-in setting every time I kill the truck. I would really love to know how to make SYNC default to USB every time I start the vehicle. Please let us know what you find out 04XLTRUNNER.

so while the wife and kids were watching dancing with the stars, I went out to the driveway and played with my toy last night ... here's what I learned about how Sync seems to work for Line In vs USB:

If I have my MP3 player fully powered up and plugged into the USB port before I start the truck - the SYNC media source comes up set to USB

If I start the truck without the MP3 player plugged into the USB port OR if I select the SYNC media source before my MP3 player is fully powered up or when there isn't an active device plugged into the USB port - SYNC comes up set to Line In

So my truck is trying to think for me! Here is my guess at what is happening. SYNC can check the USB port to determine whether or not there is an active device/source plugged into the USB port. The Line In port is probably a pretty vanilla stereo-in connection so I doubt that SYNC is able to determine whether or not there is an active device connected to Line In. So, when you switch to the SYNC media source, SYNC looks for an active device - without an active device plugged into the USB port, SYNC must assume that you have something plugged into the Line In.

I suspect that 04XLTRUNNER pretty much has his iPod plugged into the USB port all of the time and it powers up with the truck being started - so he wouldn't experience the Line In 'default'. I tend to take my MP3 player with me whenever I get out of the truck, and I haven't typically bothered to plug in the USB cable until I have selected the SYNC media source. Selecting the SYNC media source before plugging in my MP3 player caused it to default to Line In - thereby creating my own headache!

This is good info. I think the critical element is that it is plugged into the USB and IT IS POWERED ON. I leave my plugged into the USB and that does not work, it will still come up "line in". Thus, I would believe the device has to be powered.
