>Does anyone know if a Ford 9" Rear end will fit on a 1990
>F150?
I just finished swapping the 9" from an 82 Bronco (better gears
and limited slip) into my 89 with the 8.8". Piece of cake. You
may have to do something with your driveshaft. The snout on the
9" is shorter - we had to use the longer driveshaft out of the 82.
But there's no ABS sensor on a 9" so you'll lose that. Also, the 8.8" is just as strong and much more common (nowadays) than the 9". Aftermarket support is growing fast for the 8.8 and it rivals that for the 9. Why do you want to swap?
A lengthy discussion of this swap:

Well, I want to do a Posi swap and was thinking of just going with the classic 9" rear end that everyone loves. But since it does not have ABS I will stay with the 8.5" but I will try to find a way to convert it to posi.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-Dec-02 AT 02:07 PM (EST)]"Positraction" is the GM term for limited slip. You can get the factory Ford "TracLok" limited slip for the 8.8" or any aftermarket LS, like the Auburn or Eaton (makers of the TracLok). You can also get spools, minispools, lockers (like the Detroit by TracTech), switchable lockers (like the ARB, OxLocker, or Eaton ELocker), or torque-biasing diffs (like the TrueTrac by TracTech or the Zexel TorSen).
There's a post in this thread called "Diffinitions" with lots of links:
