I found a 1998 f 150 and hit had gotten hit in the rear passenger side and it bent the frame up. It drives staight down the road and everything, so i bought it and thought just get it bent back. My friends dad called a body shop and they told him that starting in 97 from the front horns on they swithched to high tensile steel and that he could bend it but that it wouldnt stay and go back to how it got bent. Has anyone had or heard of this problem or know of any solutions to fix it?
They are straighten able. Very, My cousin has rebuilt over 80 of these trucks, and money was so good on them he bought his own frame straightening machine. Myne was bent when it was rolled, and its straight now.
Not all technicians are created equal. Thats why I suggested to find out where the small shops without a frame rack farms their pulls to. A shop that specializes in pulls would have better technicians who can tell you on a 1 on 1 basis what they are capable of and if its recommended. I once had a caprice which had been hit hard in the left rear where the bumper ended up dragging the ground. They tugged it back so well, it ended up needing one bumper shock and a slight amount of putty over the fenderwell. The right guy can do miracles with experience.
