Sorry,
__just losing mind from famliy dealings around here.
Ok, let's try taking voltage reading with a the bare white with purple stripe wire from before the grey connector.
Be sure to use the battery as your ground.

Then take a continuity test to the reverse/neutral switch.
You will doing the continuity test with the white with purple wire with the black with red stripe.
Touch the white with purple wire on one test probe &
touch the black with red stripe with the other probe.
You should have continuity while in reverse, only.
(also go from park to neutral to be sure that switch isn't missed-alined)

I've got 11.74 V coming from the white/purple stripe wire and I'v got continuity of roughly 25.5 ohms but going through all the gears not just reverse???
Alright, __let's clear the table. _________________________________________________
Remove your test lead wire. Then take a voltage reading with a the bare white with purple stripe wire from before the grey connector.

You will be taking a continuity test of the reverse/neutral switch only, leave the switch detached from the harness.
This test is to see if switch is working.
You will doing the continuity test with one probe on the bare white with purple wire with the other probe on the bare black with red stripe wire. Do this with the truck in reverse.
If you should not get a positive note that it is working.
Don't worry, you can check to see if it is out of alinement.
Just move the shifter to park, & back to neutral.
If you get a positive note during this, find the spot where you recived it.
If it is too far off from R, you will just need to realine the switch.
I'm,
__doing my best to assist you in chasing out any gremlins.
You have allready done most of this, we're just checking the rest of the harness. & related parts.
Please please I hope I did not offend you I GREATLY appreciate this, really I do I was just curious and was just wanting to understand this a little better.
I have good results I did the check on the switch like you asked and I had no contnuity so I moved the gear selector and heard the beep on my tester so I went back and sure enough the back up lights were on. But the gear selector is between "R" and "N". That switch only goes on one way as there is a keyway for it so now that we narrowed it down to the switch how do I allign it??
To align the NSS theres a small hole in it where you need to stick a #43 drill bit in there after you loosen the 2 bolts holding the NSS to the tranny. Once you loosen the 2 bolts you can move the NSS and the drill bit will fall in. Make sure you have the transmission in neutral though in order to do this. I had the same problem as you but my NSS and the backup sockets were bad. It drove me crazy for a while. Hope that helps

Just to make sure but are you talking about the 78-79 style thats on the side of the tranny? Because I don't remember seeing a small hole.
