tranny fluid

this is going to sound like a newb question, but where do i add and remove tranny fluid in a 1992 f150 w/ the i6 and 5 spd. i cant find a dip stick or anything. i dont have alot of experience with manual trannys and i dont have a manual. -thanks for any help in advance!

Manual trannies don't have dipsticks, they have a plug on the side of the tranny about half way up. You remove the plug and full till fluid runs out. And there's a drain plug if you want ot drain it.

I saw a manual tranny with a dipstick once, I believe it was on a toyota or nissan truck. That blew me away

what fluid would you recomend i use? i just remove the plug and fill the tranny to the top?

Whatever fluid is right for your tranny, I don't know what that is. And you will only be able to fill it to the bottom of the hole.

it does vary from year to year or who owned the vehicle! some are atf-some are gear oil=and sometimes the previous owner will just use 30 weight oil?

what i do to find what fluids my vehicles take is go to amsoil.com and look up your vehicle. then it will say what fluids are recommended for different areas of your rig.
