im new to the forum been reading on here for a while and never really made a profile untill today
i have a 93 f150 with a 5.8 4x4 pretty much stock
I got the truck about 2 weeks ago and never used the rear fuel tank so yesturday i came home and parked the truck and hit the switch and truck turned off my guess it had no gas so i hit the switch again t the front tank and now the truck wont start at all it cranks but no start i read the manual and it said something about a fuel pump switch found it and pushed the switch but nothing happend
can ya hear the fuel pumps running?-pull the coil wire and hold about an inch away from the coil and crank it look for spark-if ya got spark it might be fuel related
Well then think of all the fun you're going to have learning, and buying tools and busting knuckles and and and......
Remove the air filter and while your there inspect the crankcase breather filter it's under the air filter make sure it and or the tubing to the throttle body aren't plugged = air.
No fun at all but without the proper tool or a timing light the best? way to check for spark is to pull a spark plug wire off of a plug and shove a key on the wire. Holding the key in one hand and leaning against the fender with the other hand have a buddy turn the engine over, if you've got spark you'll know it all the way up to the elbow.
For fuel the fuel rail has a schrader valve just like your tires Turn the key to the on (not crank) position and you should hear the pump prime the fuel system, then use a rag to catch any fuel and push in on the valve just like you were letting air out of a tire, only this time it should be gasoline coming out. Apressure reading would also be good to know.
By the way, when's the last time it was tuned? or any filters changed?
