I have a 04 FX4 with the factory single disk radio. It has the AUX button. What is the exact use of it? There are no plugs or anything for an input. I really don't want to spend $90 for an adapter.
I have the PIE adaptor on my '04 that I use for my MP3 player. That uses the AUX button and works fine. But after awhile, 1 of the channels on the adaptor might puke out. For some people, its permanent. For me, it just cuts out for a little while and comes back. It still bugs me when only the passenger side speakers work.
I have my stock head unit in my hand and i have the AUX button. There is no port for 3.5mm jack"mp3" on mine. It was the first thing i looked for..
What ever you get will hook into the harness on the back of the stock unit. DVD, Sat radio, Pie, then you use the AUX button to switch to it. If you used the PIE adapter You could install the 3.5mm jack for mp3 hook up.
See if he can get the factory part number for this and the harness. I'm looking for the same damn thing and NOT willing to pay the $90+ bucks for the PIE to have it fail in a year.
Thanks.
