Rebuilt Turbo Problems

I had to have the turbo rebuilt on my 07 truck. The truck is stock with 23k miles on it. They said it was all coked up. They said lack of use. Well its now got about 2k miles on the turbo and it seems like I am down on power and my fuel mileage is suffering. I seem to have lost a couple miles to a gallon on the highway and I need to put my foot into it more when towing.
Has anyone gone thru this?
I had it back to the dealer and he says no codes its fine and we cant do nothing about fuel mileage. Winter blend fuel. I think hes a dick.
Appreciate anyone chiming in here.

Thanks Tore

If you are so inclined, you can pull your turbo and clean it yourself. The thread for it is pretty detailed and in the Tech Folder.

if you clean it yourself, check out your local International dealer...This should be the part number for their VT365 turbo reconditioning kit.. 1870713C91

it includes instructions, all the 3M cleaning discs, a new band clamp for the turbine housing, o-rings and gaskets, new mounting hardware, and caps to keep the junk out of the critical areas while you do the cleaning..there's probably a few other things too..from International it's about a $75 dollar kit...i scored one on ebay about 2 weeks ago for $10 + $9shipping..SCORE!!!

Good for you on your EBay purchase!!! That is an amazing deal. Good advice also.

(also - all you described is contained in detail in the tech folder thread

I have 100k on my '06. Is this something I should do as preventative maintinance? I had A 1/2" crack in the intercooler intake tube last week and threw code p0299 (turbo under/overboost) Installed a new tube, reset, and all is fine. Wondering with 100k, would the reconditioning kit be worthwhile OR "if it ai'nt broke, leave it alone" ?

I have recently seen quite a few posts across several forums with folks at 150k and even 200k and no problems to speak of (including no turbo problems). I would probably not mess w/ it unless you have noticed a drop in performance or mpg's (or get a legitimate turbo over/under boost code).

Did they put the newest flash on the computer when they rebuilt the turbo? At my local dealer they do it no matter what, said that Ford made it a requirement to install the newest flash updates. They done it to my truck and I lost 4 mpg and I called them up asking what in the hell-o they done and that is what I was told along with we can't do anything about fuel mileage.

i also lost mpg when they did mine. you'd think they would ask you if you wanted it done.take bismic's advice and don't mess with your turbo unless you get a code or something.it's easy to clean, but if it aint broke..........
