Alignment Toe In/69 F250???

Hi Folks,
How much toe in should there be on a 69 F250 2wd? I really don't like the idea of paying $59.95 for a full front end alignment when all they can/will do is set the toe in. I thought I read on some other post (that I can't find) that about 1/8 inch is pretty good. I realize that alignment specs are usually in degrees, but I just want to set the toe in "back yard" style with a tape measure at the front and then the rear of the tires. This should get it close if I have the correct numbers.
Thanks
Gene

yeah true that. great idea. i am pretty sure thats right. an 1/8 is whats listed in my chilton book and thats what i set my 69 f100 to as well. it confuses me how that works because perfectly straight i would think is "aligned" but that bit of toe in puts a slight load and actually makes it drive better and more stable on a crowned road.

Gene, the spec for your truck is 3/32". The way I do it is jack up one front wheel at a time until it can be spun by hand. Next I use spray paint and paint a stripe in the middle of the tread the whole circumfrence of the tire. Light colors work best for this. After that I use a screwdriver steadied on a wooden block to scribe a line in the middle of the stripe. Just hold the screwdriver on the block and slowly rotate the tire. After both wheels are scribed I use a tape measure to mark equal points from the floor on both front and rear of the tires. You'll want to get as close to the horizontal centerline of the spindle as possible. Use the marks to set the toe.

BTW, the paint will wear off in a few miles.

gawd im becoming a bill!
chilton gasoline and diesel powered light and medium trucks ford section page 160 = 1967-1969 F250 4X4 toe in 1/8" and that spec applies to a slew of other models as well
the only 3/32" specification applies to is ecoline vans. everything else says 1/8"
sorry redcat not trying to be a dick, u are always helpful, maybe u know something the book doesnt, or maybe the book is wrong?

Dave I don't think you're being a Richard Crainium. You posted while I was typing. Gene says his truck is 2wd. The Chilton professional edition I have says 3/32" for a 2wd 69 F250.

Thanks Guys,
A question about toe in, is the measurement, front of tires-1/8 inch inward from straight, or 1/8 inch difference from rear of tires? 1/8 inch from straight would be 1/4 inch difference from rear of tires, see what I mean?
Thanks Much
Gene

Toe measurements are figured at the front of the tires.
