Welcome to the forum!
Generally the resistor block will be located behind the glove box and will be mounted to the blower motor housing, held in with a couple of 7mm or 8mm hex screws.
You don't mention the symptoms that have you considering the blower motor resistor and if you're referring to the main blower or the rear passenger blower. Assuming main blower, keep in mind that the blower motor resistor is out of the circuit for the high speed blower setting, therefore if the blower doesn't work on high speed the problem is not likely to be the blower motor resistor.

I don't know when they put it out there. On the 4-door models it may not be, I'd have to look. Yeah, it's right next to the blower wheel in the housing like the F150's are/were for years.
This Youtube video shows the 2003 Explorer being behind the glove box as mentioned above.
In THIS dizzing video of a resistor replacement in a 95 Explorer you'll see it's still outside. The Sport and Sport Trac are so similar to the Gen 2 Explorers that most instructions for repairing the 95-01 Explorers can be applied to the 01-03 Sport and 01-05 Sport Trac. This is what really messes with the 01-03 Sport owners. The info is out there they just have to know where to look.

apparently i have to move the air cleaner assembly, cruise control servo, and the coolant reservoir as well, to get clear access to the resistor.
my current issue: how do i remove the air cleaner ? does it just pop out? i don't want to break it...
