Peculiar Noise
My wife has a 05 EXPY with a 5.4. It has knocking noise, well dont know if its actually a knocking noise but kind a rattle type or tinging type knock, that would come from the exhaust. It sounds like its coming from the CATALYTIC CONVERTER on the passenger side.
If I open the hood to listen I cant find the noise. If I crawl under it, it seams like its farther up. Its more like an exhaust type tinging noise rather than a knock. I pretty sure its nothing inside the motor, but as I said it sounds like its up in the exahust from the CAT. Oh and BTW, it only makes this noise at idle, if you step on the gas the least little bit, it goes away.
Is it common for the CATs to go out quickly in these 05, it has about 80k on it.

My 97 EXPY 5.4L is doing the same thing. It started this winter. I changed the synthetic oil and added Lucas synthetic additive. The noise seemed to diminish, then it readmerged. I'm hoping to find some answers as well.
