I attempted to install a DP F5 single program chip on a 02 Excursion Limited today. Cleaned the contact just like always put it all back together no start and the theft light flashes rapidly. Pulled the chip and started fine. Chip back in and no start, rapidly flashing theft light. WTS, and CEL light all on.
Put the scanner on it and came out with a U1262 code.
Anybody run into this before? I am certain the contacts are clean so I am wondering if the theft light is an indication of some procedure I need to run through to kick start the anti theft. Not good sending a customer home without his chip......
I just triple checked the instructions and I had it in the right way. Oh and before any one says to contact DP I will but they are gone until the 13th so I am hoping someone has run into this before.
Tim, I know this has happened a couple of times to others.. I just dont know how to use the search function.. One other thing I recall though was a ground clip in the PCM housing.. I did not see one when I did mine.. but I am sure there was an issue like that earlier this last month..
Nothing personal Robin.. but please PM them next time......??????????????????????????????????

Ground clip.....I did notice that still sitting on my box after the EX left the shop....Definitely gonna have to take it back out when it comes back.
Keep the options coming if you have any! thanks so far!
I found a thread that is quite similiar and COuntrycar gave a procedure to correct it so I will give it a try when I can get the customer to come back in. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...chip-swap.html

Try this: 1)Make sure the key is out of the ignition, to begin. 2)Now Insert the key into the ignition. 3)Turn the ignition key on.DONOT START THE VEHICLE. 4)Watch the theft light on the dash it will be blinking rapidly Aprox 3 blinks per second, indicating Theft. 5) After a period of 30-45 seconds the theft light will blink slowly and or go out. 6) Now turn the key to the OFF position and remove it from the ignition. DONOT TRY TO START THE VEHICLE. 7) Wait for 10 seconds with the key out of the ignition. 8) Insert the key into the ignition. 9)Turm the key on, BUT DONOT START THE VEHICLE. 10)Look at the Theft light on the dash. The theft light will be blinking slowly..1 blink per second (Normal-Mode). 11) Then start normally after wait to start light goes out. It's easy to skip one of these steps so double check yourself. If you mess up just start over, No big deal. This should do it for yah. Take care. Country (On edit). This is the Procedure if the truck won't run. I see your is running though. HHMMMM. Never heard of this happening and the truck actually running. Sorry for the long post. Country
