external transmission filter

I am looking for a wix/napa filter and base to use in the trans cooling circuit. Its for the C4 in my bronco not my PSD, but should be the same.

anyone added one to their truck here? Part Numbers? assuming any hydraulic type filter should work. magnetic type isn't going to work for me.

looking for something similar to this;
Automatic Transmission Filter Kits
but would rather get one today at napa if possible.

thanks

SpringerPop's Transmission Filter

I have used an in-line filter, for about the last two decades, with lots of success. I have not had a transmission failure in that time. Had some before, especially with a Dodge A-604 UltraDrive POS.

If you've got 2 hours to argue with the guy behind the counter at NAPA that such a thing really does exist, you can get one from them.

You can order one online from Bill at RacerX (an FTE sponsor) for around $14

I like Springerpop's better but I have used those smaller filters at work when replacing warranty transmissions. They came with every rebuilt transmission from Honda.

Just found one of these on my truck no idea how long its been there. How often should a person replace them?

Depends on how you use the trans.

At any rate, since you're unsure about how long it's been, I'd JUST DO IT! The filters are cheap.

Afterward. maybe once a year. More often if you tow heavy.

Remember to add the make-up oil to compensate for what was in the filter.

Consider using some rare-earth magnets in the replacement filter's flange.

They'll help keep the one in your trans pan cleaner, and you can periodically clean them.
