brake issue

I have a 1988 F-450 super duty,,, the disc brakes are hanging up, they work good but, it seems like they dragging after you let off. I can push in clutch coming to stop and never hit brakes and it will slowly come to stop.

Any suggestions to what might be the problem?????

Are you sure it is both fronts that are dragging? If it is only one then I would think you have a bad flexi brake hose. If it is both then probably you have sticking caliper pistons or sliders (if fitted).
If the calipers have phenolic pistons (plastic) then you will need to replace the calipers, if steel pistons then you may be able to free them.

OK, it is just the front, I jacked the truck up and both wheels are dragging. This truck has been sitting for awhile.

Well then pull the pads out, lift the rubber dust seal up from around the piston and sprsy some WD40 in and then use a large pry bar or similar to force the piston back in. Put a pad back in and press the pedal to force the piston back out. Do this a few times and that should free up the piston. Use only WD40 anything else may attack the rubber seals. If the caliper has only one side with a piston then you will also have to make sure the caliper can slide from side to side.

sounds like new caliper time.

everything else is just a band aid and will fail again at the worst time..
