Well, I just finished installing my replacement power door locks. I learned a couple of lessons I want to share to help someone else avoid frustration.
1. When you test the the mechanism after putting the lock back together, make sure you close the door and test its function BEFORE putting the door panel back on. If you don't you might do like me and have a non-working door with all the mechanicals closed up inside the door and the door closed. I had to remove the door panel from inside the vehicle. The source of the problem was the rod inside the green swivel clip was not positioned correctly.
2. When working on the front doors, remove the courtesy light completely to avoid melting the plastic moisture barrier on the door. Don't ask how I know that.
All in all it went well. I'm glad to have my power locks back, which have been non-functioning since I bought the truck in August. The total cost of the project was 110.00 for the five window motors.
No problem. I fixed my actuators back in November and have been working fine since then except for my front passenger one. It's weird because all the others work without problems except for that one. Also, you're not the only one who melted the plastic thingy.
