04 Expedition Back up Aide

I want to turn off the Back up aide while I am towing my trailer. I just check the Message Center and there is no option for the Back Up Aide. Is there some other what to turn it off?

Put it in reverse and i believe the button to the left shuts it off.

That didn't work. I guess I will have to do some research on the internet or call Ford.

I've never played with it in my 04, but it does show in the message center as being "on" when you put it in reverse. It shows both on and off in the window with brackets around the "on" to show that is what is selected. In my 03 which I assume is the same, it is toggled between on and off via the message center.

is there something special you need to do to get your message center to display the options? mine doesn't have any options for the reverse sensors. any ideas? i have them in my bumper, the wires are all there, the harness is plugged into the chassis harness. so i would think that the truck came with them factory.

Put it in reverse, and then hit reset (button on the RIGHT!) to toggle it on and off.

That was it, the right, not the left.

still got nothin. i wonder if the ford dealer can tell me if the truck even came with the option factory? its possible the truck was rear ended and the bumper was replaced with a used one that had the sensors in it. the harness would be pre wired in the chassis even if it didnt have the option, and the body shop may have just pluged the sensor harness into a dead harness. thats alot of maybes tho.

Message center displays nothing or says anything for Back up Aide.

Don't know what to tell you, when you put it in reverse the message center is supposed to give you the status of the back up aid (on or off). if you are just paging through the message center without being in reverse it will not say anything about it. Were you in reverse?
