351W Year Interchagability
Does anyone here know what years are interchangable for 5.8 351's? I have one from a 1995 F150 4x4 and have somebody who wants to buy it for his '89. However, when he came over my house to look at it he said it looked different and was not sure it would fit his '89. A friend of his said he can only go up to '93 for a drop in replacement. How true is that? I thought all 5.8's of any year would fit...opinions?

Any 351/5.8 will physically bolt in, the external block dimensions and mounting points never changed, obviously carbed motors would have to be stripped to the longblock and the EFI intake and accessory brackets installed. It's possible the guy has a 5.0 and doesn't know it of course.

The only major change was the EGR position sensing. It is an easy swap over. There is the 5.8 roller motor but it is a direct drop in. Even if there was SD vs a Mass Air it is mostly in the wiring harness.
