Ok heres the deal. I have a 98 Expedition 5.4, 4x4. Transmission code E. I was told this corresponds to a E40D transmission. Ordered a shift kit for it. Got B&M Part# 10025. It says its for a 1989-1997 E40D. Was I given the wrong kit, or was i mistaken in my transmissions identity.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Well it is and it isn't. The E4OD is the older version of the 4R100, which is really whay you have. It has been upgraded from one year to the next to make it more dependable and stronger.
I'm thinking that the B&M shift kit won't work, as I researched that poissibility once, and can recall seeing that posted somewhere. That may only apply for the AOD-4R70W... take that with a grain of salt.
Check www.baumannengineering.com for a history of the tranny, and run a search on the E4OD and 4R100 to find parts. I'm thinking you'll be better off with a chip that adjusts shift points and shift feel and you won't have to open up the tranny, maybe you'll get more horses out of it too... chips are more expensive than shift kits. Just a thought.
