Ok heres the down-low yesterday afternoon i started my truck and it missfired or something to that nature shut it off for a few seconds started up fine. Today i started it 3 times no probs, after the 3rd start i was coming home and while going down the street the truck started acting like it wasnt getting fuel i went to pull off the road and it died as soon as i tried to give it more fuel. Now it want start back up at all.
Now tha fuel pump was replaced like a year and half ago no probs.
And at the end of last summer i replaced all the glow plugs, GPR, Valve cover gaskets and wiring inside them. (while doing this i noticed the plug next the the tubro on the driver side that plugs into the valve cover gasket, the wires had melted together, so i replaced just the plug-in end in the outer wiring harness) seemed to run fine until now.
Also ive checked fuse 22 (its not blown)
And when i go to crank it over the tach moves only a small amount, but moves.
When its cold in the morning theres a little smoke but gone buy the time i get to the end of the neighborhood. I also use Power Service fuel treatment (in the white bottle) somewhat reguarly.
I just had it replaced when they did the recall, and i read that the tach would not move if the CPS was bad.
I could be wrong though.
I also checked the fuel bowl all looks fine in there, its getting fuel and the filter and fuel look good
I keep hearing the no tach movement thing means bad CPS. Mine goes closer to zero when cranking and stays there. That's what it has always done. I do not doubt what the fine folks say happens with theirs' I just know mine plays a littlle different. I pulled the codes and there it was. CPS failure. If you've got a code reader, see what it tells you.
Check a few of the national parts stores, Shuck's (O'Reilly's), and Cut Rate out here will pull your codes for free. Look 'em up and give them a call. Try all of them you find in the phone book. If they run them, just get the 4 digit code for any that show up. Then you've got the ammo to come back and fire at the forum. This place is bullet proof. Kind of like Neo in The Matrix. Hand goes up, bullets all stop, bends over and picks one up and looks at it. You'll get your round looked at and responded to about that fast.
I would have to bring the code reader to my house cause the truck aint startin, i dont think the auto parts places around here will loan those out.
Ill call a few and ask though.
OK went to auto zone rented a scanner got it home plugged it in and... No Codes
I did notice however that when the scanner is checking for codes the wait to start light flashes ad sounds like the GPR is cycling, is this common? I dont remember this happening last time i scanned it.
Also does the CPS always throw a code?

You should try with another scanner with Ford complains, because not always the Autzone work in PSD .
I think CPS has to throw a code. what color is your CPS?
Roger what Roger said. The 96 and 97 aren't OBD-II compliant. It should throw a 1111 if nothing else. If you got nothing at all, you need another reader.
