Pulls hard right when braking

Ok..I would like some help.

2000 ex 7.3psd 134000 miles

I just had the front calipers, rotors and pads replaced about six months ago. Replaced all brake fluid, bled all 4 brakes.

Question....Is there a "balancing" valve for the left/right front brakes, or am I missing something simple, like caliper pins needing additional lube?

Thanks

Dale

There shouldn't be any bias left to right, just front to rear and that is computer controlled in the ABS module according to what I've been told. The caliper pins do need to be lubed, but the rears can cause pulling as well. If you think your calipers were done well, you may want to pull the rears and give them a once over and lubing.

Most calibers are rebuilt, so there could be a problem with the parts installed in the rebuild. There is also the possibility that the pads are not wearing evenly.

I've encountered this in the past, but never encountered a real solution, so I'm interested to hear what people have to say about this.

It is very probable the left caliper is sticking and the right side is doing all the work. Please fix this soon. The pads on right are already wearing 2x as fast and the added heat at that caliper is not good - but the danger is severely compromised braking ability!!

Maybe the new caliper slides were never lubed properly at install?? I clean and lubricate all (4) calipers' slide pins every other tire rotation. Use 'caliper grease' - most chain auto parts have it in the little packets on counter.

Jack truck (safely!) and spin front wheels. Likely, the left has more drag, but is less affected by brakes. Make sure the little wire 'clips' are on pads, they help pull them away from rotors when not braking.

Surely there is a good brake tutorial around here somewhere...

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking the caliper slides may need to be lubed again.

To help narrow down the axle giving problems, is the pull felt strongly in the steering wheel? If so it is something in the front brakes. I just did a brake job and one of the new rotors I put on were contaminated and caused a pull to that side until I replaced the rotor completely. Good luck.

I want to say no to the calipars being stuck personally. I just did the brakes and rotors on my X and the driver side rotor slide was almost non-functional. When I went back to slide it so it would go over the rotor after I compressed the pistons, it wouldn't budge. I had to use a 12" c-clamp with a 1' braker bar on the end of it to turn it. It broke loose and slid in, and took some working to get operating properly again. Still, I never had this pulling problem. Yet my other car has this pulling problem, and I've pulled the rotors, calipers, and pads a half dozen times to try and diagnose the problem, but have yet to be able to do so. It seems as though one of the brake lines are partially clogged perhaps, that it's not getting the pressure on one side as it is on the other.

Yes, when the pulling is felt, the steering wheel turns to the right.
