Hey, I have some very uneven wear on my tires, my right rear is really the worst due to not having posi. so.... here is the question... the tires i have are Maxmiller WT-1000 235/15/15 directional tires and was wondering the best way to rotate them. I know it is best to rotate in an "X" but with directional tires that would mean two of the four would be facing "backwards". Just wondering pros or cons of this. Would it be best to have the tires remounted on the rims after rotating?
I've had directional mud tires on a few of my 4x4s over the years. Each time I had them rotated, they just moved them back to front. Luckly I had a friend who worked at a tire shop, so he would dismount my tires and put them on the opposit side, so they would be on the other side of the trucks but facing the right direction. Does that make sence lol?
Fix the problem with the wheel geometry.
I run over 20K miles on a set of the most aggressive mud tires so far, and still have several thousand left. I have rotated them maybe twice!
I have only rotated a couple of times total. Really!
I am sure that my application is a little bit more extreme than most. If you are tearing up tires, you have to question your alignment shop.
The best thing to do is have alignment (usually toe) checked first. Dismounting and remounting the tires on the other side of the axle will help with uneven depth wear across the treadcap if camber is your problem.
It also usually is not dangerous to run a directional tire backwards, you will just have reduced wet traction.
