I bought some new hubs for my truck and I don't have 4 wheel ABS. The hubs I received have the wires and such for ABS. Can I just cut them and not worry about it?
Well found something weird while doing this repair. There's a plug that was behind the fender lining that I always thought controlled some kinda entry lighting. Turns out that plug fit the ABS wiring perfectly. So I plugged it in and I'm gonna leave it. Anybody know if I'll gain anything or hurt anything by doing this?
I don't know what year it started, but by 2004 at least I believe all SD's had anti-lock brakes. Do you have rear disk brakes or rear drum brakes? If rear disks you may have ABS. Also, follow the brake lines out of the master cylinder. If they go into a big valve body looking thing with a lot of wires, you probably have ABS. It might be worth figuring it out and getting them to work. ABS has saved my *** more than a few times.
My 99 also has the ABS wires behind the fender liners in the front. I also found the replacement hubs with ABS wire much cheaper than without. Original didnt have, so I left alone and tied the wires up out of the way to the brake line. Havent had any problems since.
I have rear discs but I was under the assumption that you couldn't get a Super Duty with anything less than rear disc? And to tell the truth... I'd rather not have ABS. I've not had it on 3 vehicles and the whole time I was driving my parents vehicles waiting for the parts for this to get here I couldn't wait to get back to mine. Never been a fan of ABS.
