If you idle pressure is low and it doesn't drop under throttle this can be a good solution. Mine sits at 53psi idle so I plan on shimming mine up to 60psi or so. If it drops below 40-45psi under throttle though your pump is getting weak and needs replacement.

If you do a search for the "bb mod" it's supposed to boost the fuel pressure by putting a bb behind the spring in the pump which adds roughly 7-10 psi.
I think it's a band-aid for a bigger problem for those who have bigger sticks but it's a good first start if you're running stock injectors with mild tunes.
