I just purchased a 2009 Ford f150 XTR SCREW.
Nice truck...but the brakes are kind of wierd.
I am used to haveing a hard peddle right away.
When you go to brake this truck, the peddle moves somewhat before the brakes bite.
A little unnerving.
It's not like they are spongy...but just take some time to bite after innitial peddle contact.
Is there a brake pushrod adjustment that can be done or is this normal for this truck?
Thanx in advance.
I just picked my '09 FX4 Supercrew 4x4 a week ago. What you are describing for the feel of your brake pedal doesn't sound right at all. My brake pedal has a solid feel from the moment you put your foot on it.
If I were you, I'd be back at the dealer having them look into it.
Yeah mine starts to brake the truck as soon as i touch it. It aint like the Dodge when it's either all or nothing. It feels like there's better brake modulation which i like better than the brakes feeling like they are gonna lock up if you push them to hard. You may have air in the lines which could cause this issue.
i have to pump the pedel once before it tightens up to the top.
Mine too...we should not have to do that.
This truck is new with only 500 KLM on it.
I DID do a couple of hard brakes today and things seem a little better.
Maybe it just has to wear off some of the manufacturing crud on them.
I will let it go another week and if I still hve a problem I will take it in.
Other than that..a nice truck.

What you two are describing doesn't sound like mine at all, but like you hinted at, this could be an issue with break-in of the brakes. I can't remember having any issues when mine when I first got it, but see if it improves with some miles. If not, I would visit the dealer.
toto,
My truck has 4000 kms on it and the brakes are still the same. I have to pump them once before the peddle is hard. How hard of a stop are you talking about?
I got going about 40 mph and put the on pretty good...once hard eneogh to activate ABS.
Make sure it is safe to do so.
If this doesn't help take her in.
