Well, since I got my truck awhile ago. We have been driving it around on a dealer plate. So then the brakes went out. We took it to get fixed. And apparently the brake lines were all rusted out. While the brake lines were getting fixed, we found out the front gas tank is rotted out on top. The gas lines are a bit rusty also. And one more thing, the truck failed emmissions, the idling portion I guess? All 4 fenders have very little rust on them, and are still solid. But apparently theres a bit of rust underneath. So should I keep the truck and sell it at the end of summer. Or try and get $4500 obo right now?
if you can do the work yourself it wouldnt cost all that much, a new tank will run about 200 bucks from lmc truck or find a decent one from a junkyard. if i remember correctly most of the gas lines are rubber or plastic. a little underbody coating or chassis saver can go a long way if you plan to keep the truck and that will take care of your rusting issues. the emissions could be alot of things. id try to find out whats causing it to fail emissions as that could be something cheap but could be expensive depending on whats wrong. as far as keeping it or not, your choice.
The truck has just over 152,000 miles. We got the truck tested again, and it passed. Go figure. So thats one problem eliminated. I can do all the work myself. And I would like to keep the truck. I just dont wanna spend a fortune, considering I bought the truck at wholesale price for $2000.
I picked up my 92 F250 XLT 460/5spd with 90k on it for $2500. Very little rust on the bed above the wheels and pretty clean underneith. Mint interior. It also has the Banks power pack on it. If you can get $4500 let me know because I'll sell mine for that and be running to the bank.
