Yukon territory would be heaven.
I have never been to northwest territories but I bet I would really like it there.

I guess I could even be happy about halfway up the cassiar in BC.

We need to shift al gors attention back to the real threat.

Hybrids are riddiculess you can get the same economy from a carburated honda CRX and its half as areodynamic as a prius. Honda makes a diesel civic they sell in europe that gets 90mpg US. The EPA wont alow them over here because they are not cost efective for the oil companies oops I mean enviromentaly friendly. Why does it matter how much pollution we put out we could burn tires for heat and drive cars that burn 3 gallons per mile and still not even make a dent in the life of the planet now that india and china are industrialised.

Carbon tax a done deal?

Letters to every elected official opposing the carbon tax is the way to go.
With the economy the way it is right now, the last thing we need is a carbon tax.

Dave, we came within spitting distance of having a carbon tax here in canada. Although I still have to pay a carbon tax in BC (think about that before moving up here), the federal level carbon tax has effectively failed for at least 5 years. The Liberal party ran a whole election on the idea of a carbon tax (claimed that the tax collected from carbon taxes would be offset by income tax cuts....YEAH RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). The liberals lost, big time, but the conservatives were still forced further left because they only won a minority and even then nearly lost that too.

Canada is not perfect, but we seem to be OK for the moment.

I'm having discussions about carbon tax/human caused climate change on other forums and generally we see that the momenteum of the carbon tax crusaders is finally begining to slow, but its still like trying to stop a freight train. The big urban centers mostly seem to support the idea and its hard for us rednecks and hillbillies to argue them back.

Gives envonmental conservation a very bad name. But more over, forces us to pay for treating a disease that is not only incurable, but not even real. Talk about repeat business.

George: you are right about the honda CRX. That little squirt got 60 MPG in the late 80s and thats 3.78L gallons! Nothing but a small engine and stick shift in a small, light and affordable entry level car. What a concept?

Just remeber we need all thees emisions controlls to combat gloabal warming, the naturally occuring cycles of our planet from hot to cold to hot to cold. Funny how that giant radiant heat source the sun warms us up even stranger that when it does the pollar ice caps melt and oddest of all the more the ice caps melt the faster they melt almost as if there were less ice there to keep it cold. Hmmm. but if the cars ran compleetly clean the sun would still be hot.

When it comes to global warming, all that matters is green house gasses. Methan, carbon dioxide and um.......water vapor............

........... yeah thats right clouds are still the biggest green house gas out there even according to the so called climate change experts.

More to the point, all the emission controls that sacrifice fuel economy for ultra low particulate emissions actually INCREACE carbon dioxide emissions because more fuel burned means more CO2 produced. Go figure that one out. There is no way to filter CO2 out of car exhaust. Once you filter all the particulates, incomplete burn and CO2, there is nothing left but maybe a little water vapor, but that could be a GHG too.

No joke about living out in the middle of no where. Why do you think I'm converting a smaller car to electric? Generating electricity is a lot easier than growing and refining biodiesel and while it may be clean, I have no dilusions of saving this planet.

I would love to have the time and resources to make a graph comparing the emitions of a non emiton controlled diesel and a 2010 emitions one including the production of extra diesel to feed the less fule eficeant emitions controlled turds.

Funny this thread went this way. My 20 year old son just called to tell me he had gotten a phone call today saying he was hired at a goldmine 60 miles out of Bethel alaska.

This is strictly a camp job fly in and your there except for one week they could take off july 4th.

This job will run until freeze up usually in october.
He was so excited he could hardly talk as he has been wanting to get his foot in the door in alaska. He just couldn't afford to just come without a decent job confirmed.
Now if I can just talk him into trading that new cheby for a ford or dodge.

I believe it's more like 100%

But then again I'm not the one to talk to about our govm't...

I believe the word "Politician" means: A self Centered Liar, Cheat and Thief!
And you cannot make it in govm't without being one!
