It took 40 hours and $15 worth of sheet metal to get my '60 front cab corner/floor done. I was going to get a premade floor pan but the cost just kills me. The cab suports are spendy enough.
Wow what a difference! Nice job. That's what I like about these old "metal" trucks. With some sheet or bar steel and a big hammer, you can make just about anything you need!
Great job man. Bought a couple of pieces of metal the other day from Tractor Supply and even the price of it is going up. Use to be able to get some scrap metal at work but thats even tighten up.
Thanks for the nice comments, My welding improves each time I use the welder. I just love it. I'm learning on the fly and anyone within earshot of my shop learns a whole new vocabulary.
Well, you can't beat that with a stick, well you could but why would you, that looks great for $15 and who cares about the time it takes as long as you are enjoying the journey. Keep us informed, you are doing a really nice job.
Don't look tooooo bad, for "somebody" from Fergus!....hahaha.....seriously, look's good brother!!....I know all to well, what MN. rust looks like, and what one need's to do to
repair it!......keep up the good work....progress, is progress!
Later, Doug
Looking good! Can you tell me where you purchased your cab supports at and how the quality is. Thanks
Got them from LMC. I only got one, the other is backordered. They're not exactly like the originals. They are TIG welded 16ga and not stamped. The top is stepped like the original but the bottom is flat. The originals have a curved bottom to match the floorboard. Since I'm replacing the floor with flat metal it won't be a problem.

Great job. You are an inspiration.
I have been looking at mine and looking at the price of replacement panels and will be atempting the same soon. The pictures are great. Thanks.
How about a close up shot of the cab support.
Would they be difficult to make also.
I'm going to have to do this all too soon.
