Hey call me if your going to the expo center in oregon. im bringing some cool stuff for out year ranges.
971 570 5841
no pranks please. im really looking forward to this. it will be my first one.
I hope you were able to get rid of your stuff and maybe even take something new home.
I went to the swap meet on Friday and was disipointed this year as it seems there was less stuff than the year before. I did manage to score a new cluster for my 77 but that was it.
I didnt see much of anything for 61-6 either...saw a NOS t/light lense...nothing big really...lotta repop stuff though and the usual literature.
My favorite thing was that beautiful blue sky with next to nothing for winds and good temps...shirtless and shorts weather...FINALLY!!!
I did try to get a spot for this year...they never replied to me at all either from calls or emails...VERY VERY maddening...especially what I saw...or didnt saw...
Did anyone get over to the track to see what all was over there ??? I didnt at all.

To me there were a lot of empty spots so there should have been no problem getting a spot for you to set up shop. I could see how that would be frustrating since they would not get back to you. I have only gone over to PIR once as they did not seem to have much and you had to pay again so I just go over to the expo center.
Regaurdless of the lack of finding anything it was still a good time checking out all the stuff!
Sounds like your west coast swap meet was about the same caliber as the KYANA expo in Louisville Ky this weekend, lot of vendors, but nothing reallt stands out. and the sad part in my opinion was the entrance cost and nowhere to sit if you bought an over price burger.lol
Did save $10 on some peep mirrors for my 64 model. But 3hr drive doesn't justify the $10 saving's to some.
Mitch
LOL...ya...long way for mirrors...here it was 7 to get in 10 to park...thats cheap...some places were 20...a brat was 5, bottled water was 3...not cheap...but theres something to be said about the fair food...frsh and bbqed...yummmmmmmm
And of course the great weather...it was raining last year here during the spring meet...
It really is too bad we were not a little more pro-active and we could have started a post several weeks ago and we could have a little get together this weekend out at the swap meet. Maybe next year we can get something going for us west coast guys.
i went today, sunday, got there at 12 45 and they said they were closing at 1. i thought they were open till 6? oh well. I brought with me a bunch a stuff that never hit the parking lot. I just bought a new cab for my truck off of craigslist and it had a ton of odds and ends that you never find that i dont need. I got a compleatly rust free gas tank from 66. rust free steering coulum (manual 4 on the floor). F-100 fender emblems. both front fenders, original radio( i think), 2 master cylinders. wilwood residual pressure brake line valves, 77 proportioning valve, dash chrome. and if i had an extra day i was going to pull the leather dash pad out of my truck because my replacement cab is a metal dash anyway. leather looks gooooooood. lol. and a couple other odds and ends, brake an clutch pedal assemblies, 66 insturment cluster, front body bolt covers for the cab, universal cruise control set up, V 8 hood emblem, the little covers that go over the upper bolt for the fender to cab mounting spot, again if i hadd another day i would have brought the rear glass out of my old cab as well.
sadly he wouldn't let me in. even if i had got there earlyer. said i had to register or something. felt like i would have made someones day out there if i got in.

LOL!!! You're complaining about an itty bitty drive?
To attend the F100 SuperNats in TN, I flew from LAX and Charlotte, then drove a coupla more hours to Knoxville and back.
Didn't buy much of anything inre to NOS parts at the swap meet, except for a 1964/70 RED 3 spoke Steering Wheel (in the original box, no less) that peeps walked by without a care in the world.
I hung out with the vendor for two days I bought the wheel from. He had all sorts of other goodies on his tables.
With all the info available today, it's amazing what little peeps know about what parts fit their vehicles.
Peeps were picking up mouldings, mirrors, instrument clusters, yadda yadda yadda, and asking the same fracatta question over and over again: Does this fit my truck?
Most had noclue at all what many of the parts were. It's no wonder they can't find anything.
btw: Mitch, this swap meeter lives near Murfressboro, so you may know who he is. He was driving a Dodge Durango that belongs to his wife.
Remember one mans junk is another mans treasure. The problem is its getting to be more junk and not enough treasure. I was at the Portland Swap meet twice this weekend and did score a couple of parts at a great price and got to drive my friends 65 GTO home for him so it wasn't a total loss. I did see a 66 F100 Short Step priced at $2K that needed a lot of help but seemed to be all there. On a funny note my Wife called me while I was at the Swap meet and was mad as a Wet Badger. My friend dropped off my 65 F100 Short Fleet to my house and put it in the driveway where my Wife couldn't get her car out of the Garage or move my 2004 2500HD from around it. So she gets in this 65 three on the tree which she has never driven and backs it into the road. Then she was having problems finding first gear to get it rolling forward again. I was picturing this all in my head as I was walking through the swap meet and was laughing. I sure am glad she got the thing moved and she not only moved it she took it in the backyard and parked it in front of the shop. I wish I had video. I told her I was proud of her for defeating the 3 on the tree and she gave me one of those Im going to kill you smiles. Hope everyone had a great weekend.
I did...Wyatt...drop me an email...Im hunting for a firewall insulator pad...usually trashed when the column is pulled if it wasnt alreay by father time...As for the drive...I have sold stuff at the Pdx meet in the past...done very well...GM stuff mind you for early A bodies...I was really mad i got no response from the meet peeps regarding getting a spot to sell this year...Oh well...theres always CL :-)
I went from Thursday to Sat afternoon. Hit the race track and all the rest. Inside when it rained and outside on Sat. Got my exercise in and didnt really get what I was looking for. Set of wrenches for $10 that were worth $75 and one of the last two pieces for my 390 tripower. Best part was watching someone walk up to a vender with a 66 mustang and pull $8000 out of his pocket. That one went home with a new owner. There were several 61-66 trucks that were about 200% over priced and that is being generous. One red 66 was asking $20,000 and had not been sold but was a real head turner. Very little slick stuff....we need to get something going for next year.......Ross

Bill; I remenber your disappointment in our version of super nationals compare to your version in Cal. Also my little itty bitty road trip doesn't stack up to your long haul. But i plan on attending this years Supernationals to see how its been change. May 14-17 I beleive, if i can swing getting off early on friday night I'll drive over on Sat for the day.
Oh' your steering wheel was probably the best fine in the whole swap meet part.
