New Summer Project

Hi all,

I have had a lot of trucks before, including most recently a 1996 GMC Sonoma 4.3 5 spd, 1979 C20 350/350, and a 1990 Ford Ranger. The only problem was I kept ending up in situations where I needed a REAL truck for towing my Jeep, moving engines around, or just moving home supplies around, now I have my new project...

Sitting in the original owners back yard... last plated in 2001 when the 460 crate motor was installed

Oh yes, it drives! Runs really well actually.

Sure it spent the last 8 years (at least!) sitting outside, but now it is going to be stored inside until done!

Short run down:
F150 XLT Ranger
460 big block truck (decoded VIN)
C6 Trans
Ford 9" Rear
Factory Air

The goal is two rig / street machine. It will have some slightly wider back tires, engine improvements to assist in towing and some low end torque to help off the line. I am really looking forward to this project, the truck was a dream truck when new with basically every option I know of, it is going to be fun to get it back to its original glory!

Nice find Tom!

Great to have you here at FTE! The truck looks pretty solid and should prove to be a strong worker. Make yourself at home in the forums and drop in your state chapter and let them know you are here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum124/

See you on the boards!

Hey Tom! Welcome to FTE! I'm jealous. I've been looking for one of those for a while now and that truck looks like it's in really good shape. Post up some progress pics as your work progresses.
