I havent posted here in a while, but I think I may have a small problem. In the mornings this has been going on about 2-3 weeks and between 40-50 degrees. I get in the truck turn the key to run, wait for the WTS light to go out then start. As soon as I turn the key to the run position I get a CEL. The engine starts fine except it idles almost 450-500rpm and blows quite a bit of white smoke. I hold the pedal down about 1/4th the way and only get 1300 rpm then after about 20-30 sec the CEL goes out and the engine revs to 2000rpm like it should be and idles down perfectly and smoke goes away. I also notice as I drive away under very light throttle the engine has a slight surge/miss and usually stays like that even when it warms up, but when its warm and I shut it off and turn it back on everything acts like normal nothing above happens till next dead cold start. anything above 50-60 degrees its fine unless its raining then same symptoms.

The CEL on with the key on engine off is normal. But the CEL on once started sounds like a UVC harness issue. Check the external valve cover connectors.
Okay is there test procedure for them other than just a visual look over? It seemed to start after an 8.5 hour trip home from school. Its just odd that the CEL simply goes away the same amount of time each time this happens. And it will never do it when hot or cold above 50-60.

UVC's is what my CEL was... same problem as listed above..
the time issue is possibly glow plug on time. And would also explain no issues when warm. No glow plug usage no problem. here is a link to good test procedure https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...ml#post5286089
I checked the resistances today and 2 cylinders came out 4.0 ohms, one was 7.0 ohm, and the rest were good...didnt find any shorts to GPs and no pins burnt. I also noticed to that its getting worse and the CEL stayed on all the way 15 miles which for some odd reason made the transmission shift hard all the shift points were good except they are hard checked the codes and had none.
